Baby Kangaroo Rescued After Being Shoved Into A Mail Collection Box
Firefighters never have the same day twice. Each day on the job will bring with it a different encounter. And for firefighters in Queensland, Australia, they received quite the unique call for help.
When they responded to the scene, they had no idea that they were going to be assisting to help an animal who had become trapped inside a mailbox. The little baby kangaroo, a joey, had been shoved into the small space of the box by someone.
The incident took place in Woongoolba on Australia’s Gold Coast. The Pimpama Fire and Rescue Service managed to rescue the little joey from suffocating to death in the mailbox.
They posted on their Facebook page, “A quick response from our crew, as well as Australia Post with the post box keys, meant the joey was out in no time. Pleased to report our furry friend is in the hands of wildlife carers.”
It was a lucky break for the little joey who was later transferred to a wildlife facility for care. It is not known who cruelly stuffed the joey inside the mailbox, and it’s still not clear whether or not there will be a formal investigation into the events surrounding the incident. But what is clear, is that this was one lucky baby kangaroo.
