Hamsters are popular pets, especially for people who lives in middle size apartments.

They are distinguishable from other rodents due to their short tails, stubby legs and small ears. Hamsters variety of breeds and colors, including black, brown, white, grey, yellow or a mixture of several colors.

These tiny friends are nocturnal, according to the ASPCA, which means they like sleeping during the day and they are active at night when most people are home.

They are not expensive to buy and outside of cage cleaning and apropiate food are relatively maintenance free.

You will need a cage that is at least 15 inches long by 12 inches high for one hamster or two dwarf hamsters. If it is more large size, better. The bigger the cage the happier your hamster will be.

They like to eat seeds, nuts, grains, cracked corn, vegetables and fruits like some apples and bananas. Vitamin, mineral, and calcium supplements are necessary too.

They don’t be social, tend to be solitary animals and often do better living alone, keeping males and females together is not recommended since they are prolific breeders, at least you want to have many hamsters.
