Man Traveled Across The Country To Save A PitBull That Was About To Be Euthanized
Mario Rodriguez is the man who traveled literally across the country to save a PitBull that was about to be euthanized.
It all happened when Mario’s wife sent him a link about the 2-year-old PitBull named Hickory. The PitBull was in Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) and was on the kill list.
When Mario saw him, he knew he had to do something for Hickory. The dog reminded him of King, his beloved PitBull who had just passed away. Mario loves PitBulls and felt a special connection with Hickory from the first moment he saw him.
He immediately contacted the shelter where Hickory was. He told them that he wanted the dog and that he was coming to pick him up. But there was a problem.
Mario is a truck driver and, at that moment, he was making a delivery in California. He was about 2,800 miles away from Hickory.
However, Mario did not care about the distance, his only goal was to rescue the dog. So, he called his employer and, fortunately, he helped him by scheduling a delivery route that would take him to New York.
While Mario was traveling, he called the shelter several times to tell them that he was approaching the dog and also to make sure that Hickory was okay.
After several days of traveling, Mario finally arrived at the shelter and immediately met Hickory. The connection that Mario felt when he met Hickory through the link was not wrong, as soon as the dog saw him he started to jump with joy, the feeling was mutual.
Mario told Hickory that he was safe and that they would go home together while Hickory covered him in kisses. After the adoption procedure, Mario started his trip to Georgia, his home, along with his new partner.
Hickory joined his new family immediately, especially since he had 2 other PitBull brothers to play with.
Mario gave Hickory a second chance and now the sweet PitBull makes his days happy.
