Stray Dog Turning to Stone on the Streets Gets Saved By Kind Woman
A woman saw a stray dog, that was turning into stone, outside Athens, Greece.
Petra, Greek for “stone” with her terribly hardened face, was so emaciated that it seemed she was about to die.

The woman quickly photographed the dog and posted the photos on social networks asking for help to save the animal from her painful state.
Rescuing Petra was not an easy task, she had lived so long in the streets that it was difficult to approach her.
The rescuers had to sedate Petra to take her to Save a Greek Stray shelter in Oropos.
Petra not only had a horrible appearance, but she also had several health issues. Among the problems, she suffered from scabies, various infections and an inflammatory disease in dogs caused by mites.
When the dog rehabilitator Valia Orfanidou saw Petra’s photo, she decided to save her from her condition.

It took Petra time to get used to being close to people, but she looked happy to have been bathed and treated.
Gradually, the difference in her appearance and health began to be noticed. Her scabies began to disappear and her true beauty began to show.

Although Petra’s health and appearance got better, she still had trouble being close to people. But, fortunately, Valia did not give up on her.
With a great deal of persuasion and encouragement, Petra began taking her first steps out of her cage and then everything was worth it.
Petra is an inspiration for those who are dedicated to rescue stray animals and give them a better life. Love and patience can get you a long way.
